Submit Nominations for Provost's Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity Awards

Nominations are currently being accepted for two $500 faculty awards that will be presented during a program at the All University Celebration of Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity on Thursday, April 23 at The Pointe in the Walter Pyramid. Submit nominations to the Office of University Research by 5 pm, Monday, March 2.

The awards will honor an outstanding faculty mentor for student engagement and outstanding impact accomplishment in research, scholarly and creative activity. The period of 18 months prior to April 23, 2009 may be considered for both awards. Each recipient will receive a cash award of $500 from Academic Affairs.

Nomination letters should not exceed two pages in length. The nature of the research, scholarly and creative activity should be described in the letter followed by details justifying the unique nature of the accomplishment. A one-page letter of support from the College Dean is required also. No materials will be accepted after 5 pm, March 2. Previous awardees may not apply for three years.

Evaluation of the nominations will be accomplished by a review panel chaired by Jim Till, interim associate vice president for research and external support. The panel will include the director for research compliance and three faculty members who previously have received one of the above awards or the university award for outstanding scholarly and creative achievement.

The All University Celebration of Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity will feature posters, exhibits and materials highlighting student and faculty research, scholarly and creative activity from 1 - 4 pm. To submit posters or other materials, please contact the Office of University Research at (562) 985-5314.
