California State University, Long Beach has received approval from the California State University Board of Trustees to begin offering a master's degree in applied sociology beginning this fall.
The program will combine core courses in methods, theory, and sociological practice with training in one of two thematic concentrations: Sociology of Medicine and Health; and Community Development and Social Change. Students with an experience in community-based organizations, and/or an interest in community-global issues and a commitment to social justice and human rights are encouraged to think about entering the new program.
