CSULB Student Research Competition Scheduled for February 27
Deadline to Enter is February 6

Students are invited to participate in the 21st Annual CSULB Student Research Competition on February 27, 2009. All participants will deliver a 10-minute oral presentation before students and a jury of faculty. First place winners in each category will receive a $200 award; second place winners in each category will receive a $100 award.  All prizes are provided by the Office of the President.

 

The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.   To enter, students should submit a five-page summary of their research or creative project by Friday, February 6, 2009. 

 

The categories of competition are:

  • Biological and Agricultural Sciences
  • Physical and Mathematical Sciences
  • Engineering and Computer Science
  • Humanities and Letters
  • Creative Arts and Design
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Health, Nutrition, and Clinical Sciences
  • Education
  • Business, Economics, and Public Administration

The categories are subject to change as the number of submissions necessitate.

 

Ten students will be selected to represent CSULB at the statewide CSU Research Competition on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2, 2009 at CSU, Los Angeles. Cash prizes are awarded for first and second place winners in each category. All travel expenses will be covered by the Office of the Provost. This is an excellent opportunity for students to share their research, scholarship, or creative activity with students from the other 22 campuses of the CSU system.
