A WASC Lunchtime Symposium will take place on Tuesday, November 18, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in the University Student Union Ballrooms. Every member of the campus community — faculty, students, and staff — is invited and encouraged to attend the Symposium, which will offer valuable information about CSULB's activities to improve student success and educational effectiveness.
Vice Provost Cecile Lindsay will moderate a panel of campus experts who are overseeing the three core commitment areas being highlighted for our WASC reaccreditation: Commitment #1 – Organizing for Effectiveness; Commitment #2 – Staffing for Effectiveness; and Commitment #3 – Assessing Student Success.
David Hood, the WASC accreditation liaison officer; Praveen Soni, chair of the Academic Senate; and Erin Swetland, president of Associated Students, will each briefly address the importance of the WASC process.
Featured panelists will include College of Liberal Arts Associate Dean Michael Blazey, who will report on Organizing for Effectiveness; Director of Equity and Diversity Perrin Reid, who is spearheading Staffing for Effectiveness; and Associate VP of Student Services Mary Ann Takemoto, who is co-leader of the Assessing Student Success Committee. All three panel experts will take questions from the floor, elaborate on areas that most interest the audience, address your concerns, and use your feedback to improve CSULB.
