Upcoming Workshops, Seminars and Webcasts for Department Chairs

The following workshops, seminars and Webcasts are available for department chairs this month:

Third Thursday Breakfasts

The first Third Thursday Breakfast Workshop will take place on October 16 from 8 – 9:30 a.m. in the Chartroom and will focus on “Understanding Budget and Enrollment.”  

Other upcoming Third Thursday workshops for department chairs include:

  • The Annual CSU New Department Chairs Workshop on Friday, October 24 from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Pointe
  • The second Third Thursday Breakfast Workshop on November 20 from 8 – 9:30 a.m. in the Chartroom.  It will focus on “Student Incivility and Disruptive Behavior:  What do I do?” with guest speaker Mike Hostetler, Dean of Students.

Faculty Contract 411
The Chancellor’s Office is offering Faculty Contract 411, a live Webcast for department chairs from 10:30 AM - Noon on Wednesday, October 22. The only connection to the Webcast will be at the Faculty Center for Professional Development, in Administrative Services (AS), room 12..

The Webcast will take a broad look at the faculty collective bargaining agreement – where it comes from, what it covers, what parts are especially relevant for Department Chairs, and where to go with questions. Please RSVP by October 21 to Maryan St. Claire.

 

Faculty Collegiality: A Tourniquet for a Hemorrhaging Department

This seminar will take place on Thursday, October 23 from 10-11 am. in University Telecommunications (UT), Room 127.  The seminar will address methods of assessing behavior in the faculty evaluation process, the warning signs of incivility, how chairs can foster collegiality and more.  Registration is pre-paid.  

 

CSU New Department Chairs Workshop

The CSU New Department Chairs Workshop will take place on Friday, October 24 from 8-3:30 PM in the Pointe at the Pyramid.  This workshop is open to all department chairs, especially first and second year chairs. View this year's agenda.
