The Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning will take place August 27-28, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Academic Services (AS) Building, Faculty Center Gallery, Room 12.
Discover how California State University, Long Beach is using the Liberal Education and America's Promise (L.E.A.P.) initiative to revise general education. Faculty will also be able to participate in mini-workshops, connect with colleagues, learn new teaching strategies, and see what’s new in technology.
L.E.A.P. is a ten-year campaign to champion the value of a liberal education. The L.E.A.P. National Leadership Council (part of AAC&U) recommends that education intentionally foster, across multiple fields of study, wide-ranging knowledge of science, cultures, and society; high-level intellectual and practical skills; an active commitment to personal and social responsibility; and the demonstrated ability to apply learning to complex problems and challenges. The council further calls on educators to help students become “intentional learners” who focus, across ascending levels of study and diverse academic programs, on achieving the essential learning outcomes.
Registration ends Thursday, August 21. Register online. All current CSULB faculty participants will receive a $250 stipend sponsored by the Title V, HSI Grant.
