CSULB Honors Retiring Faculty, Administrators

University College and Extension Services Dean Marilyn Crego, College of Education Dean Jean Houck and five faculty members have announced this year that they are retiring from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). 

Angela Bowen, Department of Women’s Studies; Sandra Cynar from the College of Engineering; Mark Gross, Department of Physics and Astronomy; Ruth Knudson, Department of Teacher Education; and Jae Shim, Department of Accountancy announced their retirement.  They were honored at a luncheon on May 21 along with the following 13 faculty members who announced their retirement in 2007:

Paul Bott, Department of Professional Studies

Keith Collins, Department of History

Eric Hansen, Department of Management and HRM

Tomotaka Ishimine, Department of Economics

Carol A. Itatani, Department of Biological Sciences

John C Jernigan, Department of Comparative World Literature and Classics

Bonnie Kellogg, Department of Nursing

Arthur Levine, Legal Studies in Business Program

Alice Littlejohn, Library Information Program

Nnenna Ohalete, Department of Nursing

Dee B. Sun, Department of Information Systems

Cher C. Thomas, Department of Psychology

Shirley C. Tsai, Department of Chemical Engineering

In addition, a retirement dinner was held May 22 to honor Deans Crego and Houck. 

“Congratulations to all of the retirees,”  Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Karen L. Gould said at the luncheon.  “Thank you all for your outstanding service, scholarship and leadership.  We hope that you will stay connected to our campus community and remain engaged in many of the events and activities that make CSULB a very special and dynamic university.”
