Biological Sciences Brings Researchers from Throughout the World to CSULB

Each Thursday the Department of Biology brings professional scientists to California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) to discuss their research. Lectures are held in Peterson Hall-1 (PH1) room 141 .  A student, faculty, staff mixer with refreshments is held from 3:30 – 4 p.m. The lecture takes place from 4 – 5 p.m.  Following is a list of events currently planned.  Please visit the Web site for updates.

  • April 9 (Wednesday): Environmental Estrogens and Their Impact on Salmon Life Cycle by Dr. Steffen Madsen, Institute of Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense Denmark

  • April 24: Life in the Fast Lane: Effects of Increased Swimming Velocity on Muscle Growth and Metabolism of Juvenile Marine Fish by Dr. M. Sue Lowery of Department of Biology, University of San Diego
  • May 1: Novel Mechanism of Estradiol Signaling at the Cell Membrane by Dr. Paul Micevych of Department of Neurobiology, Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA
  • May 8: Exercising in Your Sleep? Tricks from Hibernating Mammals by Dr. Bryan Rourke of Department of Biological Sciences, California State University, Long Beach
