Welcome to the first issue of Academic Communiqué, a monthly publication designed to increase communication among faculty and staff in the Academic Affairs Division. Each issue will provide information on Academic Affairs’ priorities and ongoing projects; news from the colleges and departments; faculty, staff and student highlights; alumni updates; and upcoming events.
We have a great deal to be proud of at California State University, Long Beach. Our rising student continuation and graduation rates; our impressive cohorts of new tenure-track and newly tenured faculty; the many scholarly, creative, and professional accomplishments of our faculty, students and staff, along with the achievements and contributions of more than 220,000 alumni are all contributing to our growing reputation as a leading public comprehensive university. The Academic Communiqué is an excellent opportunity to share our achievements across the division with the university community.
I encourage you to share your successes with Linda Fontes, our new communication specialist in Academic Affairs, so that they can be included in upcoming issues of the Communiqué as well as the Academic Spotlight on the university home page and the Office of the Provost Web site. As we continue through the academic year, we will introduce additional avenues to highlight the people and programs that are making CSULB a premiere institution.
