Faculty/Athlete Connections Program

Faculty/Athlete Connections, formerly known as the Faculty Mentoring Program, is offered by the Bickerstaff Academic Center (BAC) for Student-Athletes to assist with the retention and graduation of CSULB student-athletes.  This program provides second and third-year student-athletes with the opportunity of being formally mentored by a distinguished CSULB faculty member.

The Faculty/Athlete Connections program facilitates meaningful mentoring relationships between student-athletes and faculty members.  Interaction with faculty members can have a positive influence on academic performance, intellectual and personal development.  Faculty mentors can assist student-athletes in a variety of areas including academic assistance, major advisement and career networking.

Faculty/Athlete Connections Goals:

  • To proactively assist with the retention and graduation of student-athletes.
  • To facilitate student-athletes' success in balancing their academic career and NCAA athletic competition.
  • To connect student-athletes with faculty mentors for intellectual and personal development.
