Assistant Professor of Psychology (Developmental Psychology)

 

Effective Date

 August 20, 2012 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range

Commensurate with training and experience

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Expertise in developmental psychology with emphasis in any area of the life span
  • Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology or closely related disciplines by time of appointment 
  • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses related to child, adolescent, adult/aging, or more specialized areas of developmental psychology 
  • Experience with and evidence of effective teaching of college level courses
  • Experience with and evidence of scholarly research and publication  
  • Ability to develop and maintain an active program of research in the area of Developmental Psychology
  • Commitment to and/or expertise in educating a diverse student population

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the department and university
  •  Commitment to excellence in teaching, general education, and student-centered research
  • Interest in involving undergraduates in faculty-directed research and/or mentoring undergraduate students on independent research
  • Ability to chair master’s thesis projects, involve graduate students in faculty-directed research, and teach graduate level courses related to Developmental Psychology
  • Interest in community service learning and/or community-based research collaborations
  • Potential for generating external funding  

 

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Developmental Psychology
  • Develop new courses in specialty area
  • Engage in scholarly activity in the area of Developmental Psychology leading to publication
  • Supervise students in research activities including undergraduate projects and masters’ theses
  • Service to the department, college and university
