Tenure-Track Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Effective Date

August 23, 2010

Salary Range

Commensurate with qualifications, experience, and academic rank.  Probable salary range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree by the time of appointment in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a specialization in the area of Mechanical Systems Design, CAD/CAM, and FEA.
  • Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the university/college level, including both undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Evidence of potential for successful research, and a record of strong research, commensurate with professional level.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university/college level.
  • Experience in teaching courses in the areas of Mechanical Systems Design, CAD/CAM, and FEA.
  • Demonstrated ability and clear plans for the development of research programs and teaching in emerging areas in Mechanical Systems and Design. 
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise student projects, develop programs and curriculum, supervise students’ theses, and actively participate in academic governance.

Duties

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.

  • Develop curriculum, supervise student projects and theses.

  • Engage in a systematic program of scholarship resulting in scholarly publications.

  • Conduct independent research leading to publication and external funding.

  • Provide service to department, college, university, and community committees as appropriate.

  • Additional qualifications as appropriate.

Finalists will be required to provide at least three recent letters of recommendation, original transcript from institution awarding highest degree, evidence of successful teaching (examples: syllabi, student evaluations, course handouts) and a statement of teaching, research, and professional goals.
