Position:  Teaching Associate Openings in Communication Studies

 

Effective Date:  Fall Semester:       August 24, 2009 – December 24, 2009 

                                                        Spring Semester:  January 22, 2010– May 28, 2010 

 

Minimum Qualifications: -Must be able to communication effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

              -Graduate students may not be employed for more than six semesters.

              -B.A. or B.S. degree in Communication Studies or related field.

              -Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0.

              -Acceptance into CSULB for post-baccalaureate studies.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications: -Previous training or teaching experience

 -Undergraduate coursework in Public Speaking, Persuasive Speaking, and/or Communication in the Classroom

 

Duties:  Teach courses in interpersonal communication, public speaking, argumentation and debate, or small group communication.  TA’s normally will teach four sections of the interpersonal communication, public speaking, or argumentation workshop in their first year.  TA’s also must be enrolled in the department’s graduate program on a full-time basis (minimum of six units per semester.).

 

Salary Range:    -Commensurate with training and experience.

-Probable ranges for one three unit course:  $3411.60-3552.00 per six monthly installments

highest degree.
