Microbiology
POSITION: Full-time lecturer, three-year renewable

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in the biological sciences, or equivalent degree. Training and research experience in microbiology. Minimum of one year’s teaching experience in higher education. Demonstrated ability to teach microbiology lecture and laboratories. Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Successful teaching experience in large and small lecture classes, to both major and non-major biology students. Ability to teach and coordinate the laboratories for General Microbiology for Health Professionals, Bacterial Pathogenesis, and Immunology. Demonstrated ability to serve as laboratory coordinator for large courses with multiple sections, including training Graduate Assistants (GAs) and Teaching Assistants (TAs).
DUTIES: Teach one-semester lower and upper division lecture and laboratory courses in Microbiology which may include a laboratory course in Bacterial Pathogenesis, a laboratory course in Immunology, and, multiple laboratory sections of a large lower division course in Microbiology for Health Professionals, as needed. Participate in activities (e.g., committees, advising) that serve the department.
PROBABLE SALARY RANGE: $56,000 - $75,000 commensurate with preparation and experience.
