POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor – Art Education Coordinator EFFECTIVE DATE: August 24, 2009
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MA in relevant field or MFA. Demonstrated successful teaching in a K-12 public school context. Demonstrated successful teaching at the college level. Record of scholarly and creative activity. Ability to coordinate Art Education Undergraduate, Graduate, and Art Credential Programs. Ability to work with the Single Subject Credential Program to keep informed about state and campus requirements and changes as well as participating in the Art Department. Ability to communicate and work effectively within an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MA or PhD in Art Education. Two years K-12 public school teaching. One year full-time college-level teaching. Research in Art Education qualitative and/or quantitative studies. Knowledge of historical and contemporary art and art issues. Strong creative/professional record as demonstrated by portfolio of work and C.V. Strong portfolio of work by applicant’s students. Ability to interface with discipline-based programs within a very large and diverse art department. Record of academic service.
DUTIES: Advise both Art Education undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students doing coursework for the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art. Inform Art Education faculty teaching Single Subject Art courses of state and campus changes in the credential program. Teach courses including Art Curriculum and Methods, Art Student Teacher Seminar, Art Practicum, Art Disciplines and New Technology (first of the two State teacher requirement computer courses), Art Education Graduate Seminar. Coordinate placement of art student teachers and assigning of supervisors. Additional duties to include curriculum development, and committee work and other service in the department, college and university. The Retention, Tenure and Promotion process at the department, college and university levels involves review of the individual’s ongoing activity in the areas of teaching and teaching-related activities (including curriculum development, student advising and involvement in student activities); creative, scholarly and professional activity; and service to the department, college, university and community.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.

Also include digital portfolio on CD including twenty or more images of work by applicant and twenty or more images of work by applicant’s students. NO SLIDES. Digital images should not exceed 800x600 pixels, and should be presented either as a collection of JPEG files in a folder along with a caption list, or captioned images contained within a single PDF. NO POWERPOINT, KEYNOTE OR OTHER PRESENTATION SOFTWARE FILES. Portfolio MUST be accompanied with printed back-up comprising printed images and captions for all digital images submitted. Applicants may also wish to include copies of their performance evaluations from prior teaching experience, copies of publications about their work, and other additional forms of documentation of their work or work by their students.

Application materials including transcripts, resume and letters of recommendation must be kept in the department for a minimum of 3yrs and may not be returned to you. At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
