POSITION:  Teaching Associate Openings

EFFECTIVE DATE: Fall: August 25, 2008; Spring: January 23, 2009 (contingent upon budgetary funds)

                                         

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program at CSULB
  • Must show evidence of good writing and grammar skills as well as potential for successful teaching and ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. 
  • Candidates who do not meet minimum qualifications cannot be appointed.
  • Graduate students may not be employed for more than six semesters.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:                      

  • Evidence of training or experience in teaching developmental writing and basic language skills
  • Record of experience tutoring or working in a writing center preferred.

DUTIES:                          

To teach in WPE Prep 010 and 020, a program preparing students for the Writing Proficiency Exam, and to provide student advisement.  Courses are offered on the basis of one unit, credit/no credit and meet for two hours weekly.

SALARY RANGE:           

$190 to $197 per unit, per month, paid in six installments per semester.
