Full-time Lecturer Position

POSITION:  Full-time Lecturer (Japanese).   This is a one-year renewable position.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  August 25, 2008

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D./Ed.D. at the time of appointment and potential for effective teaching and scholarship. Candidates must have native or near native language competency in Japanese, as well as substantial knowledge and appreciation of Japanese culture.  Applicants should have the ability to communicate and work effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

 

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Expertise in Applied Linguistics, Japanese Literature, or Popular Culture, or other related fields.  Candidates with training, experience, or interest in heritage language teaching and learning will be given preference. 

 

DUTIES:  Usually the appointee’s normal teaching load will be 15 units per semester.  He/she is responsible to teach all levels of Japanese language, as well as Japanese literature, civilization, and contemporary culture courses. 

 

SALARY RANGE:  Based on qualifications and experience. The probable range is $ 50,000 - $ 56,000.
