Tenure Track Faculty Opening - Position Description

Position:    Tenure-track position—assistant or associate professor

Effective Date:      August 25, 2008

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

*Ph.D. by the time of appointment in Philosophy.

*Specialization in Philosophy of Science and/or Epistemology

*Evidence of potential for excellence in effective teaching at the university/college level, including both undergraduate and graduate courses.

*Evidence of potential for an ongoing, successful record of scholarly research and publication, commensurate with professional level.

*Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

*Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university/college level.

*Experience in teaching courses in Philosophy of Science and/or Epistemology.

*Ability to teach courses in Philosophy of Science and/or Epistemology.

 

Duties:

*Teach 2-4 courses per semester, from undergraduate to graduate (M.A.) in Philosophy of Science and/or Epistemology, as well as other courses dependent upon the department’s requirements and candidate’s specialties and interests.

*Participate in curriculum development.

*Engage in a systematic program of scholarship resulting in conference presentations and publication.

*Advise and direct students accordingly.

*Provide service to department, college, university, and community committees as appropriate.

 

Salary Range:

*Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Probable beginning salary: Assistant Professor—$59,000 – $61,000 annually.  Associate Professor—$62,000-$66,000 annually.
