Tenure track position in Applied Mathematics

POSITION:  A tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  August 25, 2008

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or in Mathematics specialized in applied mathematics. Applicant must demonstrate potential for effective teaching and scholarly/creative activity, and ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

 

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

(1) Successful teaching experience at the university/college level.

(2) Experience in making connections with industries and advising applied math graduate students in industrial projects.

(3) Expertise in industrial mathematics, mathematical modeling, and scientific computation.

(4) Record of scholarly activity in applied mathematics and evidence of current scholarly activity which will lead to publications in applied mathematics.

(5) Ability and willingness to do committee work and other service activities.

 

DUTIES:

(1) Make connections with local industries and advise applied math graduate students in industrial projects.

(2) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in applied mathematics.  Teach other mathematics courses as needed.

(3) Engage in ongoing research which leads to publication in refereed journals.

(4) Engage in appropriate department, college, and university committee service.

 

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
