Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing (2 positions)

Effective Date

August 18, 2014 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range

Commensurate with training and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctorate in nursing (e.g. DNP, PhD, or DNSc), doctorate in a related field, or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2014
  • Eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in California
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the University level
  • Demonstrated potential for successful research, scholarly and creative activities
  • Commitment to and/or expertise in educating a diverse student population

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing with advanced practice specialization as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist
  • National certification as appropriate to clinical or functional area
  • Recent work experience in clinical setting (within the past 5 years)
  • Background in epidemiology, statistics, public health, or psychiatric mental health
  • Experience as a nursing educator in didactic or clinical courses in postsecondary nursing programs
  • Ability to teach in more than one clinical area
  • Record of research, publication or other scholarly and/or creative endeavors
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-teaching, collegial setting
  • Current knowledge of practice issues
  • Previous experience in curriculum development and instructional technology
  • Success in obtaining external funding through grants and contracts

Duties

  • Teach didactic and clinical courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or doctoral level
  • Participate in curriculum development, course assessment, student recruitment and retention, advise nursing majors; serve as a member of thesis, direct project, and comprehensive exam committees
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical agency personnel and the School of Nursing
  • Maintain ongoing program of scholarship leading to publication
