Mission

  • Initiate programs and implement services that support all members of the faculty in their multiple roles and responsibilities in the university's academic community
  • Creates opportunities that enhance the diverse talents and contributions of individual faculty members at all stages of their careers and encourages faculty to use those talents for the good of the university
  • Promotes and engages in inquiry and reflection to address evolving needs

In order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, FCPD organizes and sponsers various events and workshops for the Faculty Members. Following is the list of all the workshops:

Enhancing Educational Effectiveness Award Program

  • Purpose is to provide both individual faculty members and departmental and interdisciplinary teams with funding to develop new curriculum and to improve instructional strategies that will enhance student learning. Types of awards include:
    Assessment Planning Grants, Full Assessment Project, Disciplinary and Interdisciplinary Innovations, General Education Innovations Awards, Travel Awards, Workshop Awards.

Summer Institute of Teaching & Learning

  • Focus is to create learning environments for faculty and students by sharing and learning strategies to integrate a variety of skills into course work such as analytic reading and writing, quantitative reasoning and critical thinking, oral communication, accessing and evaluating information (information competency, and learning how to learn.

New Tenure Track Faculty Gatherings

  • A once a month informal gathering for new tenure track faculty members. Food is served, questions are answered, special guests and resource people are invited to address teaching, research/creativity activities, and university committee work.

New Faculty Orientation

  • Tenure track hires are given an overview of campus personnel and resources, services, facilities, and an opportunity to meet colleagues. Program includes welcome, breakfast, informal table discussions and presentations by the President, Provost, and various departments. Topics of discussions can include First Day of Class, class roster, payroll and benefits, RTP process, grant writing, and release time.

Reach-Out-to-Lecturers' Program & Orientation

  • Supports the continuous improvement of Lecturers to deliver the finest educational services to their students by offering a Lecturer Orientation, a "Faculty Handbook for Lecturers" and Lecturer’s Evaluation Workshops. Learning to Deal with Disruptions in the Classroom Workshops, and by coordinating monthly faculty development events for Lecturers at various campus resource centers and workshops.

Lecturer PEN Mentoring/Peer Coaching Team Project

  • The project supports peer coaching teams in which lecturers work with another lecturer and mentoring teams. Each lecturer is paired with a tenure-track faculty member who was previously a lecturer. The focus and activities of each team varies, depending on the interests and schedules of the participants.

Lecturers' Evaluation Workshops

  • Workshop entitled "How to Represent Yourself Effectively for the Evaluation Process." Reviews the Part-time and Full-time Lecturer Periodic Evaluation form. Also addresses scholarship and creative activities and university/community services, as well as general and specific strategies for effectively communicating professional qualities, and documenting these achievements effectively within the evaluation process.

Legacy Lecture Series

  • Provides a time and place for selected faculty, nominated by their colleagues, to address the University community as if it were their "last lecture," sharing personal reflections, beliefs, convictions, values, and visions as educators.

Your Financial Health

  • Educational workshops designed to help faculty and staff understand and plan their investment strategies to achieve their financial and retirement objectives.

Individual Faculty Counseling

  • Private sessions to facilitate the resolution of issues in faculty’s development. All sessions are initiated by the faculty member.
