Faculty Affairs (formerly Academic Personnel) provides oversight responsibility for all personnel processes, policies, and procedures related to Faculty Affairs. The Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs works closely with deans, associate deans, and department chairs in matters related to faculty recruitment and retention, tenure, and promotion, as well as the interpretation of provisions of the CSU-CFA (California Faculty Association) collective bargaining agreement.
The AVP also provides support for faculty professional development and department chair leadership. In addition, the AVP seeks faculty input and is available to hear faculty concerns through such institutionalized channels as the Labor-Management Committee and regular meetings with lecturers.
The AVP for Faculty Affairs is a member of the senior administrative team in the Office of Academic Affairs and reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
