Assessment Committee Meeting Minutes
February 8, 2001
Present: Colburn, Daugherty, Henriques, Lacourse (Chair), Maples, Relleve-Caveness, Saint-Germain, Weber, Whitney
- Approved minutes of December 14, 2001.
- Discussed meeting times. Meetings will shift to 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 2:30 in order to accommodate the Academic Senate schedule. The next meeting of the Assessment committee will be Thursday, March 1st.
- Discussion of white paper on assessment. Daugherty produced and circulated a 1-page summary of what the group had previously discussed. The committee discussed the merits of the summary. The length of the final paper will be fairly short, not too exceed 2 typewritten pages. However, in order to provide adequately detailed examples, it may be preferable to circulate an electronic version with hyperlinks to specific examples. Saint-Germain volunteered to develop a 1st draft by the next meeting. Ideas and examples should be submitted to her for incorporation.
- Allocation of future financial resources. We need to begin thinking about the criteria for next year’s funding allocation. Several alternatives were discussed including: creation of assigned time for a college-wide assessment coordinator, college or departmental-level grants, or continuation of individual proposal funding. Benefits and drawbacks of shifting funding to a higher level must be considered more fully. Whatever the procedure adopted, a call for and review of proposals should be conducted by the end of the current semester.

Respectfully submitted,
