Dave passed around some conference information.
A framework for assessment consultation was discussed at length. Susan Nummedal and Alice Littlejohn provided a summary of ideas and potential questions. Sandy Cynar provided an excellent summary of the WASC chapter which was very helpful in clarifying the issues. Dave provided some integration of the potential questions.
Issues raised included (1) identifying key problems facing departments, units (2) current assessment activities, (3) an explanation of why assessment might be useful, (4) resources needed, (5) "readiness" for assessment, and (6) memo ahead of time. Dave, Don and Claudia will meet to organize the ideas presented.
The student survey will be on the agenda next time.
