Learning Skills Services
Learning Skills Services can help you develop the most effective study strategies for the courses you're taking, based on your personal learning style preferences. In other words, they help you "study smarter."
Study skills involve such elements as managing your time, organizing your study, learning from textbooks, and taking tests successfully. You choose the format best for you:
Individual (personal help by appointment or on a walk-in basis)
Group (workshops focusing on particular skill topics)

assignment, or type of test.
- You expected a higher grade on the exam.

Supplemental Learning
Materials
Are you someone who likes
to take your time working on something, or do you like extra practice
to be sure you really know it? We have a collection of resources
that can help you master a study skill or a course-related skill
(like understanding statistics, anatomy, or tectonic plates), or
prepare for the LSAT or MCAT. Visit the LAC, or ask a Learning Skills
Specialist or your tutor to recommend what would help you best.
Sessions for Special
Needs
Learning Skills Specialists
develop and present workshops upon the request of faculty, student
organizations, or other groups. In these sessions, content is tailored
to the task (reading a particular text effectively) or goal (preparing
for the MCAT) indicated by the requestor. Every semester several
workshops are presented on applied study skills and on special topics
developed for a specialized need.
To inquire about a special workshop, contact the LAC
Director at 562-985-8634, visit the LAC,
or send an email to centers-lac@csulb.edu
.
