Welcome to the International Student Services (ISS) unit of the Center for International Education (CIE).  ISS provides specialized services and assistance to CSULB international students on F and J visas. International students are encouraged to contact ISS with questions regarding immigration status, CSULB policies and procedures, health insurance issues, housing assistance and other issues with which they feel that they need assistance.  Students with personal, technical or specialized needs, should contact ISS to make an appointment with an International Student Advisor.

Travel Signature Request

If you plan to leave the U.S. and return to CSULB to continue your studies, please remember that you need to have a travel signature on your most recently issued I-20 or DS-2019.   Generally, travel signatures are valid for 12 months, but the CIE recommends you get a travel signature every semester.   If you need a new travel signature, please complete and sign the Travel Signature Request and bring it along with your most recently issued CSULB I-20 or DS-2019  to the CIE as soon as possible, but no later than two weeks before you plan to travel.  The CIE will also need to check the expiration date on your passport, so you should also bring a copy of your most recent passport.  The CIE requires one week to process and return your I-20 with a travel signature.   Please don't wait until the last minute, as we may not be able to process your I-20 for a travel signature in time for your trip.

Permission to Enroll

CSULB does not require International Students to have special permission to take classes at another area school.  However, some schools require that International Students submit such a letter from the Center for International Education.  If you would like to take classes at another school, ask that school if you need a permission letter from CSULB.  If you need a permission letter, please complete the Permission to Enroll request and submit it to the CIE.  You can mail or fax the form to us, or you can drop it off at the CIE.  We will prepare your letter and have it ready for you to pick up within 4 days of your request.
