Adult Reentry

Adult Reentry Students

As an alternative to regular admission criteria, an applicant who is 25 years of age or older may be considered for admission as an adult student if he or she meets the conditions specified in the CSULB Catalog.

Adult reentry students are those students who are:

  • Twenty-five years old and older,
  • Enrolled part-time or full-time,
  • Starting college for the first time or returning after an extended absence,
  • Dependent upon themselves for life management and material support,
  • Usually have life commitments such as work and family responsibilities.

We are here to provide help, encouragement, and individual advising appointments for adult reentry students.  If you've already decided to schedule an appointment with us, print, fill out, and mail the Adult Reentry Appointment Information form along with a complete set of your transcripts to:

Academic Advising Center

California State University, Long Beach

Horn Center, Room 103

After you've been admitted to CSULB, the Academic Advising Center is available to provide special services to you as an adult reentry student. The CSULB Adult Reentry Retention Program, sponsored by the Academic Advising Center, is designed to help adult learners make a smooth transition into CSULB.  Returning to school can be challenging for busy adults who have not attended school in awhile.  Balancing work, school, and family responsibilities are challenges that most reentry students must face.

The Academic Advising Center offers the following services to assist CSULB adult reentry students:

  • Specialized one-on-one academic advising appointments,
  • Transcript analysis,
  • Explanation of CSULB graduation requirements,
  • Distance education information,
  • Referrals for other campus services.

Contact us at (562) 985-4837 for appointment information.
