Future Students
Freshmen
If you have not yet applied to CSULB, you should do so
by obtaining an application from CSULB Enrollment Services or apply
on line via the CSU Mentor
website. See our web site on tests and testing
information for entering students. After admission to CSULB,
freshman students are advised in SOAR
or in Academic Advising Center orientation sessions in August and
January. Freshmen are then advised in the University's Mandatory
Advising Program during their first semester.
Transfer
Students
CSULB welcomes transfer students from many kinds of institutions
of higher education. Transfer students arrive from California Community
Colleges, other California State Universities, the University of
California campuses, private institutions, out-of-state colleges
and universities, and colleges and universities from all over the
world.
Although we are not hosting "future student" workshops at this time for various reasons, our workshops assist future and returning students in understanding how their
transferred work will, most efficiently, apply to their baccalaureate
degree and to assist transfer students in their transition to CSULB. The workshops are free. For
information on our future workshops, call our special workshop reservation
line at (562) 985-7847.
Different CSULB rules
apply to transfer students depending on when and where the transfer(s)
took place. As of fall 2003, a new CSULB policy impacting
transfer students is in place. Specifically, transfer students
must be admitted to a major, students applying to majors that are
not impacted will be admitted to the University if they meet all
admission requirements, students applying to impacted majors must
file applications during the initial filing period (October 1 -
November 30) and must meet all supplemental admission criteria for
the designated major. Further, students who do not qualify for admissions
to the preferred impacted major may be admitted to an alternate
on the application, otherwise they will not be admitted to the University.
Students who are admitted to non-impacted majors may, after entering
the University, apply for a change to a given impacted major only
once. There is no limit on requests to change to a major that
is not impacted. CSULB strives to make the transfer process
as clear and uncomplicated as possible. Please check the Transfer
section of our FAQ and our Transfer
Students page for more information pertaining to the transfer
process.

Adult Reentry Students
As an alternative to regular admission criteria, an applicant
who is 25 years of age or older may be considered for admission
as an adult student if he or she meets the conditions specified
in the CSULB
Catalog. We are happy to provide special services to adult
reentry students. You may also visit Enrollment
Services' adult reentry online information, or call their offices
at (562) 985-5471.
We are pleased to schedule
appointments with adult reentry students after the student provides
us with transcripts from all colleges attended. Upon receipt of
these transcripts from the student, an appointment with an academic
advisor can be scheduled for a week later. Please call (562)
985-4837 for an appointment.
The Center also provides
workshops for future adult reentry students. The focus of these
workshops is on adult reentry issues and will provide adult reentry
students with basic information regarding admissions, an overview
of the components of a CSULB baccalaureate degree, general education
and general education certification, graduation requirements and
total program planning. You can reserve a seat at these special
free workshops by calling (562) 985-7847. For
date and time information and to reserve a seat call our special
workshop reservation line at (562) 985-7847.

Second Baccalaureate for Students with Degrees from Outside and
Within the United States
Students with a baccalaureate degree from a college or university outside the United States, who are seeking a second baccalaureate degree from CSULB, will be required to complete the CSULB General Education requirements.
Effective Fall 2007, CSULB is accepting applicants for a second BA/BS to non-impacted majors and the Accelerated Nursing/Entry Level MSN program. Please note that Nursing is open to applications in the Fall term only, not Spring. Check the Enrollment Services web site or the academic department for further information.
