FAQ - Classes / Courses
When
can I begin taking upper division classes?
Upper division GE courses are taken after reaching 60 units. Major
upper division courses are taken at the department's discretion.
How do I get
my classes certified at the community college I used to attend?
Before leaving the community college you are attending, ask that
your transcripts be stamped "Certified." If you are eligible for
CSU certification but didn't request it before you left the community
college, you may ask your previous community college to certify
your courses after you've transferred.
What
is CAN?
CAN stands for the California Articulation Numbering system. It's
a cross-reference course identification system designed to identify
lower-division transferable courses commonly presented by transferring
students.
If I
receive an Incomplete ("I") in a class, should I just enroll in
the class again?
No, never ... just attend the class and complete the coursework.
What
does breaking enrollment mean?
Breaking enrollment, absences from a Title 5 school for one calendar
year, can cause you to be placed under another Catalog for major
and GE requirements.
What
is course numbering?
It's a system
that provides information regarding the level of each course offered
by the University. Courses numbered 100-199 are freshmen level courses.
Sophomore level courses are numbered 200-299, and courses numbered
300-499 are junior/senior level.
