Academic advising is a two-step process. Staff advisors in the Academic Advising Center or in special programs advise undergraduate students about general education requirements, university rules and regulations, and other general academic issues.

Faculty advisors advise both undergraduate and graduate students about major, minor, and certificate requirements; curriculum; major career opportunities; and other academic department issues.
