Faculty & Staff Services

We want to help faculty and staff!

The Academic Advising Center provides several services to faculty and staff. Included are publications such as "The Academic Advisor," produced each semester to update academic information. "Smart Students Ask" is a question/answer publication that addresses important general information and we have several handouts that address specific academic issues such as academic probation and disqualification.  In addition, the Center provides workshops for faculty and staff including academic advisor training, updated academic information, and transfer student issues. The Center staff also provides information about University rules and regulations, petition processes, and other important academic information to department chairs and undergraduate advisors.  Another resource for faculty, staff, and students is the On-Line Guide to Academic Advising.  These files are in PDF format and require Acrobat Reader to view.

Faculty helpline: (562) 985-7426 - Faculty who call this number reach an academic advisor for academic advising information.

We provide faculty and staff with information, training, and special workshops:

2008 General Education (GE) Pattern information and training

We want to help students!

We provide undergraduate students with General Education (GE) advising.

We help students understand their degree analysis as well as other University documents and policies.

We provide students with information on academic program planning, academic probation policies, remediation strategies, academic appeals, and course repeat/delete procedures.

We are a comprehensive referral service for campus resources and academic processes and we provide special services for entering freshmen, adult reentry, undeclared students, prospective, graduating junior and seniors and disqualified students.

We are the "home base" for all undeclared students, including signature authority on all University related documents.

Other workshops we provide:

Parent Orientation Program (for parents of incoming freshmen)

Reinstatement workshops (for students who have been academically disqualified and want to return to CSULB)
