Academic Appeal of Disqualification
Undergraduate students who believe that there were extenuating circumstances that led to their academic disqualification may file an appeal asking to extend their academic probation for an additional semester. Disqualified students must submit their appeals immediately following Enrollment Service’s email notification that they have been disqualified. In reviewing appeals, the Academic Appeals Committee will consider the following criteria:
- Did the student provide documentation about the extenuating circumstances?
- Did the student complete the Strategies for Academic Success Probation Intervention Program?
- Did the student demonstrate academic progress while on academic probation?
- Has the student made tangible changes in the recent semester that will lead to future academic success?
Students interested in submitting a disqualification appeal must complete the Academic Appeal of Disqualification form. The completed form and supporting documentation must be submitted to the University Center for Undergraduate Advising (UCUA), formerly the Academic Advising Center (Horn Center, Room 103) no later than 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Disqualification appeals without supporting documentation will not be reviewed.
