Disqualification
Academic disqualification
means dismissal from CSULB and is the result of not maintaining
good academic standing (a 2.0 GPA or above) in either or both of the following GPAs:
- CSULB cumulative GPA (all classes taken
at CSULB);
- Overall cumulative GPA (all classes taken at CSULB plus all transferable courses from other colleges and
universities);
All students are subject to academic disqualification if they remain on academic probation (below the 2.0 GPA) for two (2) consecutive semesters. The time may be extended by one extra semester if a student participates in a Strategies for Academic Success workshop and completes a follow-up appointment in one of the many campus offices (before disqualification occurs) which provide probation intervention. Students must also make academic progress.
If you become
disqualified you may be reinstated to the University after presenting
tangible evidence that:
- you have made progress toward the degree (Progress toward the degree means that you are reducing the
grade point deficiency and earning a grade of "C" or better in one or more courses that count toward your General Education and/or your major requirements.),
- you have reduced your grade point deficiency by half (If your grade point deficiency increases
after you are disqualified you must earn those additional
points, as well, to be reinstated.),
- you have raised your
GPA.

Disqualified students are strongly encouraged to seek advisement in the Academic Advising Center.

To prepare for your participation in the reinstatement workshop, please do the following:
1. Download (and bring to the workshop) these four (4) forms:
Bachelor's Degree Worksheet
What is Academic Disqualification
Deficiency Worksheet (Form A)
Repeat-Delete Summary (Form B)
2. Using your CSULB unofficial transcripts only (which you must also bring to the workshop) and a pencil, fill out the Deficiency Worksheet (Form A) and the Repeat-Delete Summary (Form B). If anything seems confusing, do your best and we will clarify the information at the workshop.
- To fill out the Deficiency Worksheet (Form A) - Write the courses you've taken at CSULB on the Deficiency Worksheet (Form A), the number of units for each class, and the grade you received in the course. Do not include CR/NC, W, or courses numbered below 100 (example: MATH-10). IMPORTANT - When filling out this form DO NOT include transfer coursework or courses taken after disqualification. Bring this form with you to the workshop.
- To fill out the Repeat-Delete Summary (Form B) - Write down the courses that you could possibly repeat/delete, those you have successfully repeat/deleted, and those courses that were not successfully repeat/deleted (you did not earn a C or higher on the second attempt). Bring this form with you to the workshop.
Bring all the above forms AND your unofficial transcripts (from all the schools you've attended) to the workshop.
If you have registered for the workshop and cannot make it, please contact us to cancel your reservation to allow another student the opportunity to take your place. Our workshop phone number is 562-985-7847.
