The faculty of California State University, Long Beach are committed to excellence in both teaching and research. Students have an opportunity for regular contact with their professors as well as involvement in original research and creative activities under faculty supervision. As a result, CSULB serves more than 300 California high school valedictorians and National Merit finalists among its current undergraduate population. |

About the CampusCalifornia State University, Long Beach is located three miles from the ocean and stretches across 323 beautifully landscaped acres. CSULB is home to 84 buildings including:
CSULB’s beauty is marked by 3,200 Helen Borcher flowering peach trees that were donated by the citizens of Long Beach and an extensive sculpture collection, which was created in 1965 when the International Sculpture Symposium contributed nine monumental pieces and designs to the University. In 1972 additional community funds in the form of a trust provided for the completion of the Carlson Memorial Tower, designed by French sculptor Andre Bloc. The campus sculpture collection has continued to grow, with the addition of works by artists such as Guy Dill, Michael Davis, Robert Irwin, Bryan Hunt, and Woods Davy. These acquisitions were made possible through private donations and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts to the University Art Museum. |
With approximately 34,000 students, California State University, Long Beach has the largest single-campus enrollment in the CSU system. About 2,400 faculty and 1,800 professional staff members work at the University, which is organized into eight colleges and 63 academic departments and programs. |
