Outlook 2003

Tools > E-mail Accounts

In Outlook select Tools -> E-mail Accounts...


Add new email account

Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next >



Choose IMAP

 

Select IMAP and click on Next >

If you would still like to use POP, refer to POP3 or IMAP


Enter Account information

 

Next fill in all the boxes correctly:

Your Name: First and Last name

E-mail Address: username@csulb.edu

Incoming mail server: imap.csulb.edu (or popmail.csulb.edu)

Outgoing mail server: smtp.csulb.edu

User Name: username

Password: your password


When done click on More Settings ...



More settings

Click on the Outgoing Server tab.

Place a check in the box "My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and make sure "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.



Set the outgoing server port to 587

Click on the Advanced tab and under "Server Port Numbers" enter 587 for "Outgoing server (SMTP)" and click OK


Congratulations

Finally click on Finish and Outlook is set up to connect to the campus email system
