Email
The Email tool allows you to send email from within BeachBoard. The email is sent to the user's preferred email address, as set in MyCSULB.

Accessing email
From within your course, click on Classlist on the navigation bar.
Emailing everyone in a course
- Click Email everyone on this tab near the top of the page. A new window will open.
- Users' usernames will be added automatically to the BCC field. You do not need to add anything to the To field in order to send.
- Type a brief description of your email in the Subject line.
- Set the priority for this message as Low, Normal (default setting), or High.
- Type your message in the large text box. The Advanced tab provides multiple formatting options.
- Click Browse to attach files (optional). Use the Add button to add multiple attachments. Note: Attachment size limit is approximately 5 MB.
- Click Send in the lower right corner.
- A message will display either confirming that your message has been sent or letting you know the message could not be sent.
Emailing selected users
- From the Classlist, make sure all are on the same page and click the check box next to the users' names you wish to email. To list up to 200 users per page, select 200 per page at the top right corner of the list.
- Click the
email icon at the top or bottom of the list. A new window will open.
- If you are emailing more than one user, users' usernames will be added automatically to the BCC field. You do not need to add anything to the To field in order to send.

Emailing a single user
- From the Classlist, click a user's underlined name.
- A new window will open.
- The user's username will be added to the To field.
- Type a brief description of your email in the Subject line.

*Note: The following file types cannot be added to or downloaded from email messages: .asp, .aspx, .exe, .bat, .dll, .com, .asa, .asax, .axd, .cdx, .cer, .config, .idc, .cs, .csproj, .java, .jsl, .licx, .rem, .resources, .resx, .shtm, .shtml, .vb, .vbproj, .vjsproj, .vsdisco, .webinfo, .ini.
Receiving and Replying to email sent through BeachBoard
- When receiving an email sent from BeachBoard, the "From" email address will read "beachboard-notify@csulb.edu on behalf of Firstname Lastname <sender's preferred email address>
;" however, this is not an authentic email address. It is an alias and utilized for privacy purposes.

When you click "Reply" from an email sent from BeachBoard, the authentic email address (the sender's preferred email address) will populate the "To" field.

If you reply to an email by copying and pasting the beachboard-notify@csulb.edu address, the recipient will not receive your email.
