Mozilla Firefox 3.6 is currently the officially supported browser recommended for use with BeachBoard. Users of other browsers may encounter issues while accessing BeachBoard that may be solved by switching to Firefox.
Some links in BeachBoard may not work while using Firefox when your pop-up blocker is enabled. BeachBoard can be added to an allowed sites list to make sure that these links work properly.
You may have to reload the page or the browser for the change to take effect.
There is a known issue in which the Equation Editor interface will not work properly in BeachBoard when using Firefox on a Macintosh computer. This is the only scenario in which we recommend that Mac users use an alternative browser such as Safari for accessing BeachBoard.
Some content in BeachBoard will be linked from other sites on the web, such as when instructors embed YouTube videos in their courses. Internet Explorer will prompt you to allow this outside content to be displayed when you first encounter it.
A pop-up will state: "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?" To view the outside content, you must select "No."
If you unintentionally pressed "Yes" in response to that prompt, you can change the setting in the Internet Options.
You may have to reload the page or the browser for the change to take effect.
When outside content is present on secure pages while using Internet Explorer 9, a pop-up will appear at the bottom of the screen that states, "Only secure content is displayed." To enable the content on a one-time basis, choose the option, "Show all content."
To always display this content, you can change the setting in the Internet Options.
You may have to reload the page or the browser for the change to take effect.
Internet Explorer 9 isn't fully compatible with the current version of BeachBoard. IE9 users may encounter issues entering text in text fields in BeachBoard and other related issues. To resolve this, enable Internet Explorer 9's Compatibility View for BeachBoard.
The website address should then appear in the box below with the label, "Websites you've added to Compatibility View."
Some users of Google Chrome have reported issues in BeachBoard, including problems while taking quizzes and exporting grades. If you encounter issues, it is recommended that you try a different browser.
Safari doesn't natively allow you choose which sites to block pop-ups on. It only features on or off settings. It is recommended that you turn off your popup blocker while using Safari to access BeachBoard and turn it back on when you are done accessing BeachBoard.
1. Click on the Safari menu item from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
2. Click on the checked "Block Pop-Up Windows" option to turn off the pop-up blocker. If there is no checkmark to the left of the "Block Pop-Up Windows" option, then your pop-up blocker is already turned off.
Repeat these steps to turn the pop-up blocker back on after you are done accessing BeachBoard.
