Software Depot Installation Policy CSU, Long Beach participates in the CSU-Microsoft Campus Agreement. It is a program coordinated by Academic Technology Services. The license requires division, department or college technologists to install Microsoft products, such as Microsoft Office 2011 for Macintosh, on university-owned workstations. Contact your division, department or college technologist for assistance.
Ordering Faculty, staff and students may purchase Office 2011 for Macintosh at the University Computer Store for personally owned computers used primarily for university business.

Product Details

Office 2011 for the Macintosh has many new features. Below are several of the top features.

  • Word - Publishing Layout includes new "Styles" with full screen views where layers can be reordered and user documents can be shared (for free) at Microsoft's SkyDrive directly from within the application. Collaborators are then able to work on the Word documents from wherever they are.
  • Excel - Conditional Formatting enhances user tables with icons, data bars, color scales, "sparklines" with improved table and pivot table creation. Spreadsheets can be shared at Microsoft's SkyDrive directly from within the application.
  • Powerpoint - Users can now add or change colors and remove backgrounds using Photo Edit. Presentations can be broadcast using Microsoft Live ID. Users can manage/reorder layers of text and images.Visual cues can be inserted to prompt the speaker and shows can be shared at Microsoft's SkyDrive directly from within the application.
  • Outlook - Users can now condense email threads under a single subject, view the calendar right in your email, bring users with you via ".PST Import", view all messages via "Unified Inbox", and manage one's daily schedule and contacts.

Installation

Personally-owned Computers

The University's Volume Licensing Media and keys may NOT be used for Microsoft Office 2011 for Macintosh installations on personally owned computers used primarily for university business. For those installations, faculty and staff must purchase a media kit from the bookstore.
