Access Computer Lab Policy
Patrons of the Student
Open Access Computer Lab must agree to the guidelines of the policy governing
access to the use of CSULB computing resources. Refer to Campus
Computing Policy.
Prior to checking out a computer, patrons must sign in at the SignUp stations. Please view our on-line software
list for software availability on different platforms.
Alumni access is available in the University Library Spidell Technology Center.
Computer Consultants are available to help students. Assistance provided by
consultants is limited to the computer and software installed
lab computers. Lab handouts are available
at the service desk. Software manuals are available for check
out with a photo ID at the service desk.
Patrons can save their documents on their own media or in
the workspace area of the computer's hard drive. CSULB is not
responsible for the documents saved on the hard drive. Hard
drives files are deleted periodically.
Absolutely no food is allowed in the computer lab. Drinks
in spill proof containers are permitted.
Computer games are not allowed in the lab facility. Patrons
who are playing games will be asked to leave.
There is a 4 hour time limit for computer use, however, computers
left unattended for more than 15 minutes will be automatically logged off and reassigned
to the next waiting patron.
The software installed on ACS computers are copy protected.
Anyone found tampering with the copy protection will be subject
to referral to Judicial Affairs.
Patrons cannot install their own software on any computers
in the lab.
Please observe closing time. There will be an announcement
20 minutes prior to the labs closing and all printers will
be turned off 15 minutes before closing. No further announcement
will be made.
CSULB assumes no responsibility for any damage or loss of data
caused directly or indirectly by using the facilities or computers.

Printing
All computers are connected to the self-service printers. Print jobs are paid for and picked-up at print release stations. Black and white laser print-outs cost S $0.10 per page.
A color laser printer is available in the Horn Center. Printing costs
$1.50 per 8.5" X 11" page, $2.00 per 8.5" X 14" page and $3.00
per 11" X 17" page.
Pick-up your print job at any of the self-service print release stations by swiping your student ID card, selecting your job name and entering your job password. Funds are automatically deducted from your Beach Club account.
Charges have been negotiated with
the University Bookstore and are necessary to recover the
costs of paper, toner, and printer maintenance.

Funds can also be added by visiting the 49er Shops ID Card Services website.
Credit cannot be issued for unsatisfactory printouts
caused by user error. User error includes (but is not limited
to) misspellings, duplicate copies, and dissatisfaction with
format or layout of the finished printouts. All printouts
must be paid for.
It is the user's responsibility to proof read all documents
and to use the "Print Preview" feature to ensure that the
format and contents of the document is acceptable prior to
issuing a print command.
