This year’s TheatreFest will take place April 12-13, 2013 on the Cal State Long Beach campus.
TheatreFest is an annual gathering of high school students and teachers designed to cultivate self-confidence and lifelong passion for theatre through professionally-adjudicated competition, showcased performances, and team-building recreation. Simultaneously, the festival promotes the CSU Long Beach College of the Arts and contributes financially to University Players’ Showcase, a unique program that gives our own developing artists a supported medium to create and produce their own productions.
All registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Each participant will have a chance to be involved in a wide variety of workshops, to see showcase performances, and to meet with peers who share a common interest in theatre arts. Our goal is to promote a healthy environment in which students can enjoy themselves and challenge their own perceptions, while showcasing their talent.
Students can compete in the following categories: Comedic Monologues, Dramatic Monologues, Comedic Scenes, Dramatic Scenes, Musical Theatre Solo, Musical Theatre Scene, Musical Theatre Ensemble, Improvisation, and Technical Theatre.
Registration packets will be available in December, 2012.
