Department of Mathematics and Statistics
The M.S. in Mathematics Option in Applied Statistics at CSULB is designed for people who want to acquire advanced statistical knowledge to help them:
- get a job in industry or government
- further succeed in the company where they currently work
- get a job teaching at a community college
- go on for further advanced studies, i.e., a Ph.D. in Statistics
A person can go through our program either as a:
- Full-time student (2 or 3 courses a semester) and easily finish in 3 (or 4) semesters (i.e., 1 1/2 or 2 years)
OR as a - Part-time student (1 course, or sometimes 2 courses, a semester) going at your own pace.
Highlights of our Graduate Program in Applied Statistics
- Our program is especially flexible for current workers at companies because all of our upper division undergraduate and graduate statistics courses are at 4pm or later.
- Each course is offered on two nights a week, either M,W or T,Th.
- Our students learn the latest statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, and MATLAB.
- We help our students in searching for internships.
- Our students learn cutting edge statistical techniques used in industry. In addition, our students work on many project with real data sets.
- Our statistics faculty are excited about the program and available for help.
