Research & Teaching Interest:
Authentic Assessment in Physics Instruction

I am interested in developing meaningful assessment instruments that help my high school physics students access prior knowledge, expose misconceptions, enhance metacognition, and apply learning to relevant problems.  All forms of assessment have benefits and disadvantages, so I am interested is developing a wide range of instruments that complement each other and enhance the learning experience.

As Teacher-in-Residence during the 2010-2011 academic year, I am eager to talk with students about the high school/middle school teaching experience and the pathway to becoming a physics teacher.  I will be teaching two classes during the Spring 2011 semester—PHYS-390 and PHYS-490.
