Federal Resources:
Women's Bureau
Department of Labor

Mission

To promote profitable employment opportunities for women, to empower them by enhancing their skills and improving their working conditions, and to provide employers with more alternatives to meet their labor needs by advocating for equitable employment standards, policies, and programs.

The U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau, established by Congress in 1920, is the only Federal agency mandated to represent working women in the public policy process. Its mission is to promote the welfare of wage-earning women, improve their working conditions, increase their efficiency, and advance their opportunities for profitable employment.

The Women’s Bureau provides publications, data and resources in issues facing women in the work place. Statistical data is available on a wide variety of issues concerning women--their labor force status, occupations, earnings, female racial groups, labor force trends and projections. If you have more specific questions, contact the National Office.
