World Percussion Concert

Dave Gerhart, Eric Hartwell & Neili Sutker, directors

The World Percussion Ensemble will perform Calypso Music—David Rudder; Fall From Grace—Darren Dyke; Let's Move to Cleveland—Frank Zappa; Playa Larga—Ray Holman; and Somebody—Timothy “Baron" Watkins Jr.

The West African Drum Ensemble will perform Agbekor, Gota, and Agahu.

Composers’ Guild:
Veda Quartet

VEDA Quartet is a unique group comprised of two percussionists, harp, and mezzo-soprano. Founded in 2013, the VEDA quartet specializes in performing new music and closely working with composers. For this evening's concert, they will be premiering student works from our Composition Studies area.

Dzovig Markarian, piano and electronics

Dzovig Markarian Uto Pianism: traveling the world with an electro acoustic piano. Dzovig is a contemporary classical pianist, who enjoys a variety of activities concerning the research, creation, performance and teaching of contemporary modern repertoire.

Faculty Artist Recital

Brad Dutz, percussion, Nick Mancini, vibes and Bruce Lett, bass

Bassist Bruce Lett founded this progressive jazz trio in April 2014 after playing gigs with vibes player Nick Mancini and percussionist Brad Dutz. The combo debuted at Squashed Grapes; this month come celebrate the release of their CD, no questions asked, with the trio at CSULB.

Fall Choral Concert: Women’s, Men’s, & ’49er Choruses

Regan MacNay, Jonathan Talberg, and Brian Dokko, conductors

From Barbershop to Renaissance madrigals, contemporary a cappella to beloved spirituals there’s something for everyone when our choirs come together for a ’prism concert’—one hour and fifteen minutes of great music in all sorts of styles.

Jazz LAb Band

Kimberly Davis, director.

Please join us for this season’s first performance of the Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Kim Davis. Kim is the new recipient of the coveted Beau and Jo France Graduate Jazz Studies Scholarship. The JLB will present an exciting program featuring the music of Frank Foster, Scott Ninmer, Jeff Jarvis, Sammy Nestico and more.
