Down in the Valley:
a folk opera

Dennis Frayne, director.

The CSULB College of the Arts (COTA) Student Council and Associated Students (ASI) will present four FREE performances of Kurt Weill's 1948 folk opera Down In The Valley from May 2 through 5 in the Studio Theater.

Produced by Jessica Louise Garcia and Morgan Berliner, Directed and Conducted by Dennis Frayne. The shows are free and open to the public, and include a mixer with free refreshments!

Celebrating Music featurures Mozart's Requiem and Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2, performed by the Cole Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and the combined choirs of the BCCM.

This year's honorees are Dr. Leland Vail and Dr. Michael Carney.

WOMEN'S AND MEN'S CHORUSES

Stacy Oh and Shannon Gravelle, conductors.

The Men's Chorus (Stacy Oh, conductor & Barry Wilber, accompanist) will perform works and arrangements by René Clausen, Victor C. Johnson, Antonio Cesti, Nick Page, Glenn Koponen, James L. Ames and others.

The Women's Chorus (Shannon Gravelle, conductor & Chris Maldonado, accompanist) wll perform works by Eugene Butler, Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelsshon, Stephen Paulus and others.

This concert also features is the premiere of Alan Shockley's Union Fragments, written especially for the Women's Chorus's and is Shannon Gravelle's graduate recital.
