Paul Zibits, Double Bass, joined the CSULB Department of Music faculty in 2006. Previously, he taught at UCLA, Chapman University, Loyola University of Chicago, and The Music Conservatory at Roosevelt University in Chicago.

He is currently a member of The Pacific Symphony, Associate Principal Bass of the Opera Pacific Orchestra, and Principal Bass for the Ballet Orchestra at the Los Angeles Music Center for visiting international ballet companies. Recently this has included The Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Miami City Ballet, Teatro alla Scala Ballet, among others.

Additionally, he has performed with or been a member of the San Diego Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Kirov Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Royal Ballet, New York City Opera, Los Angeles Music Center Opera, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and has performed under some of the world's most renowned conductors including Sir Georg Solti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Leonard Slatkin, and others.

Since moving to Los Angeles he has performed on the scores to over 500 motion pictures including Titanic, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Spiderman, Pirates of the Caribbean as well as recording projects with Barbara Streisand, Michael Jackson, Marvin Hamlisch, Neil Diamond and others.

In 1988 he was Executive Director of the LA 88 International Society of Bassists Convention. Over 250 bassists from 15 countries participated in a week-long event of Master Classes, workshops, seminars, concerts, and recitals—at the time the largest ISB Convention ever held. He was editor of the International Society of Bassists Magazine and a frequent contributor to Bass Player Magazine.

He has performed as a soloist with the UCLA University Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and on a critically acclaimed CD of Prokofiev's Quintet from the Southwest Chamber Music Society. He has a BM and MM from De Paul University and studied with Chicago Symphony Orchestra member Warren Benfield and Joseph Guastafeste, Principal.
