Join our vocal jazz groups for a year-end send off. PST was recently named as a winner in the graduate college large jazz ensemble category by Downbeat Magazine for the 4th year in a row. Earlier this spring they also won the Vocal Jazz competition at the Monterey Next Generation jazz festival.

New Music Ensemble + Laptop Ensemble

CSULB New Music Ensemble in the world premiere of Alan Shockley's …in oceangreen of shadow for shakuhachi, microtonally retuned harp, ensemble, and electronics. Guest soloists: BCCM alumna Jillian Risgari-Gai, harp, and Silk Road Ensemble member and UCI faculty member Kojiro Umezaki, shakuhachi.

The concert will also feature the CSULB Laptop Ensemble in a performance of a new "hyper-opera." Aluminum Skin—a hyperopera (2014) written in collaboration by Kaija Hansen, Zaq Kenefick, Eric Pham, Gustavo Silveira, Nick Venden. Three-screen video, motion graphics, and editing by Nick Venden.
