Practicum in TEFL (Summer 2006)

Eight linguistics graduate students took a condensed study abroad course (Linguistics 593: Practicum in TESL) at Mingchuan University in Taoyuan, Taiwan between May 20 and June 4, 2006. They observed different classes, taught a lesson in one of the classes they observed, and reflected on their observation and teaching both in class sessions and in writing. Masterfs degree students of the Applied English Department at Mingchuan University organized two events for the CSULB students, one on campus and the other off campus. Practicum in TEFL (Summer 2005)

Four linguistics graduate students attended a course in China between May 28 and June 12, 2005. They visited five cities (Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Qingdao, and Beijing), toured nine campuses (Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Soochow University, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing Normal University Experimental High School, Nanjing Qingliangshan Elementary School, Qingdao University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Normal University, and Beijing Haidian District No. 3 Experimental Elementary School), and observed 13 classes (1 on physics, 10 on English, and 2 on linguistics).
