International Visiting Scholars
Fall 2007
Professors Zhishan Wu 吳志山and Yong Fu 傅勇,two visiting scholars from Beijing Language and Culture University in China, are currently working on their doctoral research in the Department of Linguistics at CSULB.
Fall 2006
Professors Qiang Liu 刘強and Dan Liu 刘丹from Beijing Language and Culture University, China visited the Department of Linguistics at CSULB in the fall semester of 2006. Professor Qiang Liu gave a presentation titled “the Dynamic Study of Presupposition” based on his doctoral dissertation at the Linguistics Department Colloquium on Friday, December the 1, 2006.
Fall 2005
Professors Li Zhang 张黎and Lieying Jia 贾烈英from Beijing Language and Culture University were visited the Department of Linguistics as international visiting scholars during the four months in the fall semester of 2005. Professor Zhang presented his doctoral research on “Oral Business Chinese - Analysis of Sales Talk” at the Linguistics Student-Faculty Colloquium on December 8, 2005.
Fall 2004
Professors Ping Wu 吳平and Yuguo Han 韩玉国from Beijing Language and Culture University in China visited the Department of Linguistics as international scholars during the four months in the fall semester of 2004. They presented their doctoral research at the International Brown Bag Lunch co-sponsored by the Center for International Education, Phi Beta Delta International Honor Society, and the Department of Linguistics on Wednesday, December 8, 2004. Professor Wu’s paper titled “Formal Analysis of Natural languages.” Professor Han’s paper titled “The Interface Between Syntax and Semantics of Mandarin Chinese.”
Fall 2001 - Spring 2002
Dr. Dongming Yu 俞东明from Zhejiang University in China was an international visiting scholar with the Department of Linguistics for four months between November 2001 and February 2002. Dr. Yu presented his research titled “Pragmatics and the Study of Drama Texts” at the Linguistics Department Colloquium on January 30, 2002.
