Biography

Dr. Garhammer is the author of the book, Sports Illustrated Strength Training, and has had over 80 articles and chapters on biomechanical and strength training topics published in textbooks and technical and popular journals. He has supervised strength and conditioning programs for varsity athletes at UCLA, Auburn, and Long Beach State University, and is a Level III coach with the US Weightlifting Federation. In 1990 he was presented the NSCA Strength Coach of the Year award, and in 1993 the NSCA Sport Scientist of the Year award. He has been a competitor in weighlifting for over 30 years and was the 1993 and 1997 National Master's Weighlifting Champion in the 99-Kg division.
