Full-Time Lecturer Position in Urban Geography

Position:

One year full-time lecturership in urban geography, with possibility of one- year extension, depending on performance review and budget

Effective Date:

26 August, 2002.

Minimum Qualifications:

ABD in Geography or closely related field; specialization in urban geography; ability for effective teaching in lower level general education courses, including World Regional Geography, Introductory Human Geography, and Geography of Human Diversity in the United States. Applicants must present evidence ofteaching effectiveness in urban geography and human geography and ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

Effective college or university teaching experience preferred, especially in urban and human geography; expertise in relevant sub-discipline courses; prior experience or familiarity with the CSU or comparable comprehensive urban university.

Duties:

  1. teaching courses that address urban geography (existing courses include Principles of Urban Geography, Metropolitan Problems, Urban Life and Problems, Land Use Planning, and Economic Geography)
  2. teaching lower division General Education courses, including World Regional Geography, Introduction to Human Geography, and/or Geography of Human Diversity in the United States
  3. teaching a regional geography course in area of expertise
  4. participating in service to Department, University, and community.
Final determination of teaching assignment is dependent on departmental needs and applicant's qualifications.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with training and experience; probable range is between $41,940 and $44,964.
